Centralina WDB Counties Awarded National Emergency Grant
A formal announcement concerning the award was made by Congressman Robin Hayes (NC - 8th District), US Department of Labor Assistant Secretary Emily Stover DeRocco, and US Department of Commerce Assistant Secretary David Sampson at an Economic Development Forum held on April 3 in Rockingham. The NEG funds will provide for a wide variety of services including assessment, case management, skills training, job development, job placement, and supportive services. These funds will complement current funding available through the Centralina Workforce Development Board to provide services to help retrain and re-employ workers who have lost their jobs due to company layoffs and closings. News You Can Use The Centralina Workforce Development Consortium and Centralina Workforce Development Board expect to release a Request for Proposal (RFP) on or about April 18, 2002 soliciting offers to provide services for WIA Title I Adult and/or Dislocated Worker Services and for Youth Services for Program Year 2002 (July 1, 2002 - June 30, 2003). The RFP bid packages are available on the Centralina WDB website - www.centralinaworks.com . Potential bidders who wish to receive additional copies of the RFP bid package must make a written request to Centralina. Requests can also be made by e-mail at dhollars@centralina.org. Information on funding availability is also available at www.centralinaworks.com. Completed proposals in response to the RFP must be submitted to Centralina by 4:00 PM on Friday May 17, 2002.
